When a wine comes at me with a Cru Beaujolais meets Langhe Nebbiolo play I have to listen.  When it prices out at about $13.99 per bottle it’s time to buy.  I have had the Bernabeleva Camino de Navaherreros cuvée in past vintages and have liked it but it somehow seemed to not quite wow.  Sometimes it seemed a bit plummy; lacking a bit of refinement maybe, though it remained excellent value.  The 2011 rolls in with great balance and character and at a ridiculously affordable price point.

This little gem of a wine from Bernabeleva is imported by the Rare Wine Co. and is readily available in many fine shops for under $15 bucks.  It is Garnacha from mostly older vines and it is raised in large neutral oak barrels to maintain it’s freshness and character.  I want to pair this up one night for supper with friends along side a nice Cru Beaujolais and a fresh Langhe Nebbiolo and see the magic happen.  This is party wine.  This is food wine.  This good times.

Bernabeleva 2011 Vinos de Madrid, Camino de Navaherreros ~$13.99

Black cherry soda, violets, plum skin, cherry, mineral all come to mind.  There is freshness, and spice, and the tannins seem to come from the fruit itself.  Nice aromatics and lift.  Langhe Nebbiolo/Cru Beaujolais love child.  HIGHLY RECOMMENDED – GREAT VALUE
