I really didn’t know much about the De Forville Barbaresco before purchasing a bottle, which was fairly priced and highly recommended, but I am kicking myself a bit for not doing my usual routine of buying two bottles, as this is great stuff.  And I should have known as much as it is a Neal Rosenthal wine, and you can really never go wrong with a Neal Rosenthal wine.  So far as I can tell from tasting, this is great traditionally made Barbaresco, and what I can find on Neal Rosenthal’s website seems to confirm this.  I am adding De Forville to my shortlist of go to Nebbiolo producers and grabbing a couple more bottles as soon as I can.  Great stuff.

De Forville 2007 Barbaresco ~$30.00

Violets, cinnamon spice, liquorish, and floral notes meld together seamlessly on the 2007 De Forville Barbaresco.  There is nice purity here, with no makeup, and though there are some tannins, it is drinking now but should age gracefully if you so desire.  The balance here is excellent.  A Neal Rosenthal selection.  HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
