I continue to dream of Sicily every time I taste wines from COS.  My roots run back to Sicily on my mother’s side with my great grand parent having immigrated to America, and having come through Ellis Island some time in the last century.  One always hears of how magical Sicily can be, and it is at the top of the list of places I want to visit.  I am not only longing for visits to favorite producers like COS or Occhipinti, but to find some connection with my family’s Sicilian roots.  Until that day I am happy to be able to drink wine like the 2009 COS Nero di Lupo.  At 12% ABV it is as drinkable as a red wine can be.  And that lite bodied wines of great depth can be achieved in as warm a climate as Sicily (which can often produce over ripe, flabby monsters) is reason enough for praise.

COS Nero di Lupo 2009 Nero d’Avola

Pomegranate and bright red fruits mixing with hints of Christmas spice.  Lite and alive and fresh and pure.  At 12% ABV this is infinitely drinkable and infinitely likeable.  Moderate acidity and lite tannins drive the point home even further.  HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
